The ceramic artwork is placed in a pre-heat kiln toraise the tempurature a few hundred degrees.	The preheated pieces are pulled from the pre-heat kiln and placed in the raku kiln.	After they heat to 1700 to 1900 degrees, they are lifted out quickly.
A container filled with wood chips, newspaper, sawdust, or excelsior has been prepared.	The artwork is dropped on top of the wood product and covered quickly.	The smoking cans are carried outside to smoke and cool down.
